I worry that we should send a couple of people working what looks like an Indian (subcontinental) takeaway to jail for a couple of years or more for food allergy offences, presumably expressed as criminal negligence.
Yes, the selling people were negligent. But I also think that buying people with serious allergies, or their parents, should take care. If you buy your food from some cheap take-away outfit through an Internet service which probably knows nothing about the outfits to which it is connecting you, it is maybe unrealistic to expect a good standard of allergy awareness or practice.
To my mind, and to some extent, these two sellers have been made scapegoats for a problem which should rest with society as a whole. And making them scapegoats by sending them into a prison system which is already grossly overcrowded, in some large part because of our society's foolish laws about another kind of tricky substance, that is to say recreational drugs. Not very clever at all.
