Fake 107

The south front of the extension

Detail

The trickle of fakes continues with a window at Hampton Court, spotted by BH and thought to be a paint job, with no timber or glass at all. Not unreasonable considering the amount of interior detail which has been faked up there, in one way or another, as can be seen by perusal of this series of posts.

However, on closer inspection of the photograph under zoom, I am no longer sure, with the centre eight squares now looking as if they might be a subsidiary window, sat on top of the rest of it and possibly rotating out horizontally from a top or bottom hinge. Not a central hinge as rotation into the interior is not an option, top or bottom. In any event, if there is a subsidiary window, we would only have a partial fake.

Another contested decision. Another case for the rules committee. Perhaps I shall ask a trusty next time I am there. Perhaps I will remember to take the monocular, although that may not improve on image zoom.

The curious tree will be noticed in due course.
