This trolley appeared in Blenheim Road, outside the Ford Centre there on Thursday morning and was still there this morning (Saturday) when I removed it to Sainsbury's. Which was just as well for them as they were having a busy day and the regular trolley stack was down to just one trolley. A stack where there is usually a line of dozens of them. While the large trolley stack, for some reason, was full to overflowing.
I wondered whether the appearance of the trolley was in any way connected with the appearance of a large, articulated lorry mounted caravan, the sort of thing favoured by the owners of fairs, a bit further down the road, just about visible top right. Possibly displacing the recovery vehicle which has been parking there off and on since April. See reference 1.
I also wondered about the twenty or so people that one supposes works at the Ford Centre - not one of whom thought to take this trolley back to the nearby Sainsbury's when they clocked off. It seems unlikely that none of them was going that way in the two days available. The sort of thing that an old-fashioned manager would have attended to, doing it himself if need be. He could always have treated himself to a bacon sandwich by way of a reward, either at the upstairs Fresh Kitchen or al fresco from the caravan adjacent. Otherwise, street food.
And to think that I had been intending to take a look at the Fresh Kitchen for myself, on this very day, but forgot about it in all the bustle. See reference 2.
