Date supplies (again)

We may not yet have visited the warehouse at Willand, but we are still getting through the dates mentioned at reference 1. Somewhere between a packet a week and a packet a fortnight, with a packet containing 250 grams and said to be two thirds sugars of one sort or another. Mars Bars for veggies.

This afternoon, while opening up the next packet, I noticed that one of the instructions was given in two languages, one being English and the other being something foreign that I did not recognise. At first I thought Finnish, but then I shifted to Hungarian, not so dumb as they are distant relatives in the Uralic family of languages. BH said Finnish on the grounds that two words contained a double 'k'. And she was proved right by a few seconds with Bing.

But why would a date importer from Cullumpton have a special relationship with the Finns? Does the fact that it is cold there in the winter mean that they get through a lot of dried fruit, and as a fellow member of the European Community, amount to an export opportunity?

Maybe this will spur us into visiting the place next time we are in the area.

PS: the white panel on the illustration to reference 1 being what caught my eye this afternoon, with the other multi-lingual stuff being much less conspicuous in real life than it is on camera.
