Trolley 311

Shopping requirements meant that this morning, for once in a while, I did a partial Ewell Village clockwise, rather than my usual full anti-clockwise. No trolleys at the West Street footbridge, no trolleys until an alley off East Street, well past Kiln Lane, so too late. But then there were a couple of trolleys in the alley by the chip shop in town centre, and as I was on my way to Waitrose, it seemed sensible to catch that one. Leaving M&S for another day or another collector.

Before that, I had been passed by a crowd, maybe fifty strong, of mainly middle aged people on a tour of inspection of Laine's various dance training facilities. Had the tour been organised by the trade association for floating care home operators? Or perhaps the operator of the home at reference 1 is big enough to run its own tours?

Then, at Waitrose, I was confused by their having refreshed the packaging for the strong white bread flour which I usually buy, which must have slowed me down by at least 30 seconds.

While under the West Road bridge, what appeared to be water people were putting the finishing touches to making their hole in the road good, following the recent burst water main. Plenty of other holes still present, some with evidence of broken pipes and ducts scattered about. And, unlike yesterday evening, the traffic was taking notice of the road closed signs.

But will gas people carry straight on with their promised gas works, on more or less the same spot, or will they wait until the end of the week to make a fresh start, as scheduled?

PS: but then again, maybe we will soon have floating care homes offering an end-of-life heritage experience, offering the full 1950's Butlin's, complete with Woods Ware 'Beryl' crockery, knobbly knee contests and bingo. With red coats replacing the dancing girls.
