The strange aerial roots of the orchid sitting in our downstairs front room. Where it gets the morning sun and has been in continuous flower for around six months now. I am told it will go through a quiet, flower-free season at some point, but no sign of it doing so any time soon.
Snapped today for its very odd aerial roots, entirely proper for an orchid, but I have still to get used to them, looking to me more like some strange sort of worm than the root of a plant. And close up, the white stuff appearing to be honeycombed, like some sort of living bubble wrap. It would be interesting to see such a root being taken apart by someone who knew what he was doing, but I dare say that would be fatal to the plant.
