Scrabbled

Having lost three games on the trot, I managed to win one by a couple of lengths yesterday. Then lost by five lengths today, that is to say, by 331points to 272, having failed to get over BH scoring 78 with 'QUAY', cunningly getting the 'Q' on a double letter and the 'Y' on a triple word. I subsequently did quite well with the 'Z', but not well enough.

At least there is some good news in that we broke through the 600 barrier again, getting on for a month since the last occasion, noticed at reference 1. Maybe this evening we will celebrate with a wee dram of Jameson's triple distilled, whatever that might mean.

Jameson was a lawyer from Alloa (in Scotland, a little to the east of Stirling) who married into the Haig whisky family, moved to Dublin and went on from there. A progress which included joining a Dublin Lodge and no less than sixteen children - although it seems that his distillery has now been moved down south to Cork. The Raeburn portraits above are kept in the National Gallery of Ireland, but Google tracked down a convenient reproduction at reference 2. Bing failed me.
