Bricks and stones

A month on, the relaid stones by our miniature ponds have now emerged from the water, which sank away quite suddenly a few nights ago. Are they still as level as they were?

It now occurs to me that one council slab might have been a better solution than four small stones, not that I have one lying about. If, in the weeks to come, we are not satisfied with the levelling, that might be a project for the autumn coming, when the ground will be in decent condition for laying again, somewhere between dry & too hard and wet & too soft.

The sixteen walking bricks are visible in their up position behind the crocuses. Bricks which seem to be getting visibly smaller. The winter weather and everyday handling is slowly chipping bits off. The edges and corners are being worn down. But probably good for the rest of the viral emergency.

PS: two doves knocking around this morning. Smaller and paler than the wood pigeons which have taken to patrolling the lawn about lunch time. Possibly, I suppose, strayed racing pigeons, which we get from time to time.
